Scarlett Lady Looks To Claim QLD Oaks For NZ

Scarlett Lady has put in the performance of the carnival for the New Zealanders so far in Brisbane with her easy victory in the Doomben Roses two weeks back.

She easily accounted for the best Australia could throw at her and from there she lines up as the favourite in the Queensland Oaks this weekend.

Peter Snowden will back-up Divorces to have another crack at her however even with a change in riding strategy it’ll take a huge run from any of the field to bring down the flying kiwi.

She’s currently based on the Gold Coast and has found an excellent training partner in the Group 1 winning Shoot Out.

“She worked on the course proper this morning with Shoot Out,” co-trainer Debbie Rogerson said.

“He’s a very good horse on his day and he hasn’t had much luck, they worked very well to the line and there wasn’t much between them.”

Scarlett Lady has shown she’s fairly versatile both in terms of track ratings and her position in the running.

Like much of the East-Coast tracks the Gold Coast surface is fairly damp at the moment but even though she worked well Rogerson is hoping for dryer grass come Saturday at Eagle Farm.

“T think she’s a far better horse on a bit better track,” she said.

There are no problems to report in the lead-up to the Oaks ad she’s a much deserved favourite going into the event.

“She hasn’t put a foot wrong, she’s eaten up and looks well,” she said.
