Trainer Robbie Laing is unhappy that both Lord Of The Sky and Boomwaa have been allocated 60 kilograms for their respective events at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Laing revealed yesterday that he was likely to back Lord Of The Sky up in the handicap event over 1000 metres at Moonee Valley this weekend, just a week after he was beaten as a short-priced favourite in the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, but he told TVN this morning that he may not run either Lord Of The Sky or Boomwaa on Saturday.

“I may not run any of them,” Laing said.

“They obviously don’t want the good horses to run.

“If enough horses come out and I think my horses can win I’ll run them, but if I don’t think they can win, I won’t be running them with 60 kilograms.”

Laing said that Lord Of The Sky had come through his shock defeat in the Bletchingly Stakes in good condition and indicated that the Danerich entire will be given the opportunity to roll along in front if he runs at Moonee Valley on Saturday after he did not respond well when restrained at Caulfield last weekend.

Boomwaa has been included in the nominations for the Super VOBIS Three-Years-Olds Colts and Geldings Handicap over 1000 metres and will be appearing at the races for the first time since March, if Laing opts to accept.

The Mutawaajid gelding stamped himself as a horse to watch when he scored a dominant three lengths victory in the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) at Flemington on November 9, but he was unable to record a race win during his summer campaign.

Boomwaa was beaten by the undefeated Fighting Sun in the 2014 ATC Membership On Sale Plate (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on January 4 and was upset as favourite by Peggy Jean in the Inglis Classic (1200m) at Royal Randwick on January 18.

Laing opted to give Boomwaa the opportunity of competing against older horses in the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) at Flemington on February 15 and he failed to fire, but returned to his best form with a fifth place finish in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22 and the Group 2 Henry Bucks Sires’ produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 8.

Boomwaa is currently available at odds of $61 in the 2014 Caulfield Guineas betting market with Ladbrokes Australia.
