Talented Darley filly Metastasio is set to return to the races at Moonee Valley next Saturday after impressing in a jump out at Flemington last week.
Metastasio showed plenty of talent as a juvenile, winning the Nursery Plate (1100m) at Flemington and the Listed Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield before finishing eighth behind Miracles Of Life in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
The Street Cry two-year-old will resume in in a Benchmark 78 race over 1000 meters at Moonee Valley on August 3 ahead off a return to black type racing and a possible rematch with Miracles Of Life in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 17.
Stablemate Montsegur is also on target to run in the Quezette Stakes and will compete in a barrier trial at Cranbourne on Monday week.
Montsegur was another Darley filly who stood out during the early stages of the 2013 Autumn Racing Carnival after debuting with a three and a half-length victory in the Joe Brown Plate (1000m) at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
The daughter of New Approach was slightly disappointing when finishing sixth behind Miracles Of Life in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1100m) but bounced back to run a strong second behind Group 1 winner Guelph in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude (1100m) and finished just ahead of Metastasio in the Blue Diamond Stakes.
A fortnight later she made her racing debut at Flemington and recorded a strong win in the Group 3 Breeders Stakes (1200m) on March 9.
Viennese is the only Darley-owned filly to be successful in the Quezette Stakes while Peter Snowden has never trained the winner of the recently upgraded race.
