Tommy Berry will be out for back-to-back success with Driefontein at the Magic Millions Carnival after electing to ride the filly in Saturday week’s $1 million Magic Millions Guineas (1200m).

Berry was aboard Driefontein when she defeated stablemate No Looking Back on protest in last year’s Magic Millions Classic and he has indicated he will not jump ship despite piloting No Looking Back to a first-up victory in the Carrington Stakes on Tuesday.

Connections were buoyant following No Looking Back’s success in what was her first race since April and were hopeful Berry, who is the number one Waterhouse stable jockey in the absence of Nash Rawiller, would continue on to the Gold Coast with her.

“What a win by NLB [No Looking Back], Surely that impressed my lil mate @TommyBerry21 to jump ship, better to be on top rather than watching her fly past u,” Part-owner Luke Henderson said on twitter.

“I wish you all the luck Luke but I have to stick with my filly :) looking forward to seeing you there.” Berry replied.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained pair stand as two of the top chances for the three-year-old feature, with Driefontein second favourite at $4.50 and No Looking Back currently being offered at $14.

Driefontein, a winner of four of eight starts and more than $1.4 million in prizemoney, ran second to Snitzerland in the San Domenico Stakes in August before her spring was cut short due to injury.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock was a $1.15 favourite to to win the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO Stakes last month but failed to justify the price as she finished a length behind She’s A Stalker in second.

No Looking Back’s Carrington Stakes win was her first outing since finishing 10th in the Golden Slipper which was the end of a successful two-year-old campaign that saw her finish second in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
