Trainer Anthony Cummings has always held a high opinion of his colt Your Song and expects the three year old to be on tune in the Group 1 $400,000 Bundaberg Distilling Co. BTC Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Your Song hasn’t started since finishing third to Jolie Bay in the Group 2 $175,000 Vili’s Pies Roman Consul Stakes (1200m) at Randwick in October but Cummings is convinced that the Spring form is strong enough to carrying on into the Winter Carnival.
“He’s in very good order and quite fit after the trials, so he’ll go straight into the BTC Cup,” Cummings said.
Your Song has trialled on three occasions in preparation for his return to the race track with Cummings pinpointing the April 19 hit out when third to high profile colt All Too Hard and Gold Coast winner Academus.
“All Too Hard came out and won the All Aged and Academus won on the Gold Coast last week so while it’s only trial form, it reads pretty well,” Cummings said.
“He had a nice gallop on the course proper at Randwick this morning He’s going very well. He’s ready.”
Cummings is prepared to forgive Your Song’s uncharacteristic eighth to Epaulette in the Group 1 $1m Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on September 15 after beating the Peter Snowden trained colt when second to Pierro in the Group 3 $125,000 The Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill on September 1.
Your Song had two wins prior to that run and Cummings highlights the form around the three year olds Pierro and Epaulette as very good Spring form.
“His form reads pretty good from the spring and it’s stood up during the autumn in Sydney,” Cummings said.
“Both Pierro and Epaulette performed pretty well at weight-for-age so I’m not concerned about taking on the older horses.
“Results show this year they are an outstanding crop of three-year-olds and he was the third favourite for the Golden Rose, which has proved to be a high class race.
“That would put him in the ball park I, would think. He’s always impressed us as being a Group I colt and that hasn’t changed.”
Cummings said that Your Song would be his only BTC Cup runner after Cornwall Park raced at Hawkesbury last Saturday and Diamond Earth will be heading to Scone on Saturday week.
Your Song is well in the betting for the BTC Cup and is a $8.50 chance in early markets which sees local sprinter Buffering the top pick at $2.80.
Last year’s BTC Cup winner Sea Siren is the second pick at $4 just in front of three year old Better Than Ready at $4.50 and Rain Affair at $5.
