The prospect of a wet track at Rosehill on Saturday has enticed trainer Chris Waller to consider a start for Red Tracer in the Group 1 $1m George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Waller has originally planned to run Red Tracer in the Group 2 $175,000 Emancipation Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on April 5 but with rain forecast all week for Sydney, the leading trainer is leaning towards taking advantage of the wet track with his renowned mud lark.

“We never intended to run her but we know how much she likes a wet track so we decided to nominate her,” Waller told AAP.

“The Emancipation looks like a really good race for her but she is so good in the wet and the George Ryder is a Group One race.”

Red Tracer is regarded as one Sydney’s best wet trackers with an outstanding record on rain affected ground including a Group 1 victory on a slow 7 in the $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm during last year’s Brisbane Winter Carnival.

The Dane Shadow mare has three wins and a second from four starts on a slow track and five wins from six attempts on the heavy.

And she kicked off her Sydney Autumn Carnival campaign with a win on a slow 7, beating subsequent winner A Time For Julia in the Group 2 $175,000 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on March 1.

Red Tracer was then sent out the $3.40 favourite in the Group 1 $500,000 Guinness Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick on March 15 on a dead 4 and after being on the end of severe interference shortly after the start ran home to finish third to Appearance and Not Listenin’tome.

Waller is set to dominate the George Ryder Stakes and has also nominated three times Group 1 winner Boban, last year’s Doncaster Mile winner Sacred Falls, last year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner My Kingdom Of Fyfe.

The leading Sydney trainer was able to turn around the early Autumn form slump of Boban and return him to the Group 1 winner’s stall  beating It’s A Dundeel in the Group 1 $500,000 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Warwick Farm on March 8.

Boban had been the star of the Spring Carnival with five consecutive wins including two at Group 1 level, the $500,000 The Star Epsom (1600m) at Randwick and the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

Sacred Falls hasn’t won a race since winning the  Group 1 $2m BMW Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick twelve months ago but ran encouraging first up fourth to Appearance in the Canterbury Stakes.

While My Kingdom Of Fife will be looking for a longer journey after finishing at the tail of the ten horse field in the Canterbury Stakes.

With the forecast of a wet track, Ladbrokes.com.au have installed Red Tracer the early $3.50 favourite for the George Ryder Stakes just in front of stablemate Boban at $3.70 with Sacred Falls the next in the betting at $7.50 with Kiwi three year old El Roca.

The Bart and James Cummings trained Eurozone is marked as a $11 chance with last start Liverpool City Cup winner Terravista and the Guy Walter trained Toydini at $14.
