Wyong trainer Kim Waugh is pleased with the condition of stable star Forget ahead of his run in the talent-rich July Sprint (1100m) at Canterbury on Saturday.

Forget has been a strong and consistent performer for Waugh through several preparations since transferring to the care of Waugh partway through 2013; undoubtedly highlighted by his dominant win in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle last spring.
Waugh has been pleased with the benefit taken by the Exceed And Excel gelding from his first-up run for sixth in a Rosehill minor over 1200m last weekend, and told The Daily Telegraph she expects the horse to relish only one week between runs when he lines up for the July Sprint.
“There are two reasons why he’ll back up,” Waugh said
“Firstly, he’s pulled up so well, like he didn’t even have a run that he’s ready for another run this week.
“The other reason is that there is a serious lack of options for him in the coming weeks. If we didn’t run here, we’d have to run next week in a 1500m race, which I don’t think he’s ready for.
Forget has a good record at Canterbury and Waugh expects the horse will only add to his impressive tally when he contests the 2016 July Sprint.
“He’s won and been placed there from three starts,” Waugh said.
“And he likes wet tracks — you would think even with the sunshine forecast the track will stay on the soft range at least.”
Posting nine wins and a further eight minors through his forty competitive starts so far, Forget began his racing career as part of the Darley operation, under the care of Peter Snowden in late 2011, but was sold at the conclusion of the 2013 Autumn Carnival.
Resuming this year for sixth in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) on January 30th, Forget again finished sixth in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) a fortnight later, and was returned to the paddock after failing to make anything of an impression and twelfth in the Listed National Sprint (1400m) on March 6th.
Forget will leave from the rails draw with Tim Clark aboard in the July Sprint, and has been charged with overcoming 60.5kgs.
The six-year-old is currently available at 2016 July Sprint odds of $13 for success with Ladbrokes Australia.
