Disposition is stepping up to 1600m for the first time in the Group 2 $400,000 Sky Racing-W.A. Guineas after remaining undefeated with a last start win in the Listed $100,000 Fairetha Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on November 8 but owner Bob Peters believes the good barrier draw will help the Reset gelding handle the extra journey.

“He’s going along okay and barrier two should be good for him,” Peters told Perth Racing News.

“At this time of year they are young horses and anything can happen.”

Disposition has started favourite three times in his four race starts and delivered for  punters on each occasion without any worries.

At his first race start the Grant Williams trained three year old broke his maiden status with a three and a quarter lengths win over 1000m at Northam on September 21 and followed that up with a two lengths win over 1000m at Belmont on October 1.

Williams then stepped Disposition up to Listed company and even though he was only on the third line of betting at $5, kept his winning momentum going with a two and a quarter lengths victory in the Listed $100,000 Crown Perth-Belgravia Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on October 18 before stepping out as favourite in the Fairetha Stakes.

The market order for the W.A. Guineas at Ladbrokes.com.au has Disposition at the top of the betting at $2.40 ahead of Trevor Andrews trained Outlaw Pete at $5.50 and Tonto at $9, from the Lou Luciani stable.

Williams will also saddle up two fillies for Peters in the W.A. Guineas with Ideal Image drawing barrier ten in the fifteen horse field while Delicacy has drawn one to her outside in eleven.

Both fillies have only been out of the winner’s circle once with Ideal Image winning three from four and Delicacy winning four from five and both are listed at $15 in the market order.

Perth’s leading rider William Pike has ridden Disposition in three of his four wins and will be back aboard on Saturday while Shaun O’Donnell will stick with Ideal Image after she finished third to her stablemate Delicacy in the Group 3 $200,000 Skyy Vodka – W.A. Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 15.

Peter Hall rode Delicacy in the Champion Fillies Stakes and will have the mount again in the W.A. Guineas.

Three time Melbourne Cup winning jockey Damien Oliver is back in his home state for the Perth Racing Carnival and will be aboard the outsider of the field, $101 chance Toppa Dawozza.
