A Doncaster Mile start is definitely on the agenda for Appearance after the mare made it back to back Group 1 wins in the $400,000 Inglis Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill today.

The Guy Walter trained Appearance scored a narrow win in the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 23 at her last outing and the Commands mare has proven she is one of the top mares in the country after winning the Group 1 $500,000 Myer Classic (1600m) at Flemington in the Spring.

Walter is very tempted to run Appearance in the Group 1 $2m BMW Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 20, giving her a genuine light weight chance.

“What a fabulous mare she is,” Walter said.

“She just keeps winning. She just wants to win, terrific little mare.”

“She’s in the Doncaster obviously, she’s got a lightweight, it would be pretty tempting to run.”

Appearance handled the soft conditions perfectly with Kerrin McEvoy giving the four year old a good run just behind the speed and was able to get her into the clear at the 300m.

“She beat a nice field there today again, really loves that ground as well as did a few others in the race,” McEvoy said

“We had a nice trail into it and she just kicked up really well and ended up hitting the front a little early but she was strong to the line.”

The shock of the race was the unplaced run of odds on favourite More Joyous ($1.65) who was in trouble at the 300m when Nash Rawiller had a wall of horses in front of him with nowhere to go and it was clear that the Gai Waterhouse trained super mare wasn’t going to win her third Queen Of The Turf Stakes.

While Rawiller was searching for a way clear, McEvoy was in the clear but to her credit More Joyous was still able to finish the race off once into the clear to wind up in fifth spot.

Appearance ($10) had a half a length margin over Red Tracer ($7), the two mares repeating their finish in the Coolmore Classic with Streama ($14) running her usual honest race to finish third.
