Flemington trainer John Sadler is hoping his colt Motorised will produce a promising performance when he makes his debut at Moonee Valley this Saturday.

The well-bred juvenile was a $310,000 yearling, and Sadler is confident that his form will match his breeding.

Motorised was due to make his racing debut at Flemington last Saturday, however, Sadler felt the 1,000 metre race he was in was too short.

“He has showed us that he is a little bit dour and I thought they would run him off his legs in 1000 metres if we ran him last Saturday,” Sadler said.

“I would rather start him off this week over 1200 metres where he may be able to get in to the race a bit.”

The trainer has seen evidence from Motorised that he is a true stayer, despite the fact he is bred to be a sprinter.

Motorised’s dam, True Blonde, was a half-sister to top sprinters Snippets and Quick Score.

“He shapes as a stayer and looks like he can stay but he is not bred to stay,” Sadler said.

“He is fairly big and placid, but a nice horse we are hopeful down the track will make the grade.”

Sadler will use Saturday’s run to assess Motorised’s spring carnival chances.

“I really want to have look at him on Saturday and see what he can do,” he said.

“When they don’t race until late you worry about their chances in the spring.”
