UPDATE: Motorised has been scratched from tomorrow’s East Malvern Community Band Handicap at Caulfield.

John Sadler is looking to gain his first win with three-year-old colt Motorised in tomorrow’s East Malvern Community Band Handicap at Caulfield.

The Flying Spur colt has had three career runs, with his best result a second in the ACG Security Handicap as a two-year-old.

Motorised has been in the paddock since his last start sixth at Flemington on August 6.

“In hindsight I probably wish I hadn’t have run him now, he ran very flat,” Saddler admitted.

“He went into that race just over the top.”

The trainer believes Flying Spur horses are best when fresh, which is exactly how Motorised is going in to tomorrow’s race.

Sadler believes Motorised is well prepared for his first-up start after producing a promising performance in his most recent jump out.

“He’s had a jump-out… he went well,” he said.

“I would expect a very forward showing (tomorrow).”

The trainer’s only concern is Motorised awkward barrier draw of 11 in the race, which coupled with the rail being out 10 metres, will make it difficult for the young colt to find a suitable position.

“The rail’s out 10 metres which I don’t understand, they haven’t had racing there for seven weeks,” Sadler said.

“This is a good program and I am just a little concerned with the rail being out that far and this horse drawing 11 of 12.

“I would have thought he would have probably come in behind the pace, I haven’t had a look at a speed map as yet.”

Sadler is also weary of Peter Moody’s Infinite Energy who is also running in the race.

Infinite Energy finished third in the $70,000 Wellington R.C. Inglis Bonus as a two-year-old in his only other race starts and Moody has openly admitted that he expects big things from the gelding.

“There is a horse of Peter Moody’s…and it could be a good horse,” Sadler said.
