Miracles Of Life Could Stay In Adelaide For The Autumn

Miracles Of Life was the star of the 2013 Melbourne Festival Of Racing but trainer Daniel Clarken has revealed that the speedy filly may race exclusively in Adelaide during her upcoming autumn campaign.

Miracles Of Life recorded four dominant wins in a row as a two-year-old, culminating with a victory in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m), but was unable to return to the winners stall as a three-year-old and had her campaign prematurely ended after suffering an exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage during the Blue Sapphire (1200m) at Caulfield on October 12.

Clarken told Sky Racing HQ that he doesn’t have any firm plans for Miracles Of Life during the autumn but said she is likely to remain in Adelaide for the majority of her preparation.

“We are really happy with her,” Clarken said.

“She is into her third week now and we are in no rush with her.

“We have Adelaide and there are some nice races over here for her, so we might just play it by ear.

“We will let it unfold, the way that it should unfold with her.

“We can stay in her own backyard at this time of year and we will just make sure that she is 100 percent.”

Miracles Of Life captured the attention of the Australian racing public during the 2013 Melbourne Festival of Racing because of her diminutive stature and the fact that she was the first top-level horse prepared by Clarken and ridden behind mature apprentice jockey Lauren Stojakovic.

While Miracles Of Life is still prepared by Clarken and ridden by Stojakovic, her small stature may be a thing of the past after going through an impressive growth spurt during her stint in the spelling paddock.

“She spelled really well and put on plenty of weight, but in saying that she had a good grow to go with it,” Clarken said.

“When she went out after the spring she was a fraction over 15 hands and I didn’t see her for a month and she came back into the stables at 15 two and a half and weights over 500 kilos.

“It is quite amazing how immature she was in the spring and how much she has grown.

“Her physical improvement has been staggering.”

Clarken remains a chance to win the 2014 edition of the Blue Diamond Stakes; with City Of Discovery included in the second declarations for the Group 1 event that will be run at Caulfield on February 22.
