The Peter Moody trained King’s Rose is set to join glamour stable mate Black Caviar at Royal Ascot in June.
King’s Rose is set to resume in the Group 1 $1m Lexus Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 10 before a Sydney campaign on her way to England.
Marcus Corban, New Zealand based racing manager for King’s Rose’s Hong Kong owner Dr Gene Tsoi said that the Rodoute’s Choice mare will ultimately end up being sent to Coolmore Stud sire Galileo in Ireland after competing at Royal Ascot.
“Everything’s coming together well,” Corban said.
“Peter is really happy with the way she’s coming up. The Newmarket should set her up nicely for the two races in Sydney.”
After the Newmarket, Moody will send King’s Rose to Sydney for the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) for fillies and mares at Rosehill on March 24 and the Group 1 $400,000 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on April 7.
Then the four year old will be sent to England to join up with Black Caviar to be prepared for the Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes (1600m) at Royal Ascot on June 19 before eventually being mated with Galileo at Coolmore Stud.
“It should work out well for both of them. They’ll be good for each other when they get to England,” Corban said.
“What lies ahead is very exciting. The bonus at the end of it all will be the Galileo mating.”
King’s Rose will be mated in southern hemisphere time during the northern Autumn and will then sent back to Cambridge Stud in New Zealand to have her foal.
The New Zealand mare arrived at Moody’s Caulfield stables with the Group 1 1000 Guineas (1600m) already in the bag and a host of listed and group races as well.
Moody was able to produce King’s Rose first up to take out the Group 2 $200,000 New Zealand Bloodstock Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 27 last year and followed that up with a win in the Group 2 $200,000 Spotless Stocks Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on September 10 beating subsequent Cox Plate winner Pinker Pinker.
King’s Rose finished midfield when seventh in the Group 1 $3m Tatts Cox Plate (2040m) before bouncing back for a narrow second to Albert The Fat in the Group 1 $1m Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington on the last day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
