Royal Randwick bore witness to a performance for the ages on Saturday as the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained Sheza Alibi reached a new career peak, decimating a high-class field to secure a dominant victory in the 2026 Doncaster Mile.

The gifted daughter of Saxon Warrior became the first filly since the legendary Sunline in 1999 to conquer the famous Randwick mile.

Guided by Jamie Melham, the three-year-old turned the Group 1 $4 million Doncaster Mile (1600m) into a one-act affair, leaving runner-up Autumn Boy and the rest of the field in her wake.

Sent out as a heavily supported $1.90 favourite, Sheza Alibi extended her winning streak to five.

This victory marked consecutive Group 1 successes at the track and trip, following her clinical 3.2 length win in the Randwick Guineas.

In a repeat of the Guineas quinella, she once again proved too sharp for Chris Waller’s Rosehill Guineas winner, Autumn Boy.

However, the margin this time was a statement of absolute authority, with the filly delivering one of the most statistically dominant displays in the race’s long history.

“That was breathtaking, the second colt is a super colt and what she does is just amazing,” co-trainer Moody told Sky Thoroughbred Central post-race.

“Quite phenomenal and she’s so nondescript… she’s just a tradesman, she’s got a great hip, a big deep girth and a hell of a lot of ability.

“I thought she had the perfect prep… Crikey hard to go much faster than her.”

With Evaporate setting the tempo, Melham bided her time off the speed, keeping the lightweight 49kg chance under wraps until the final furlong.

When she gave Sheza Alibi her head, the response was instantaneous.

She sliced through the pack with effortless acceleration, hitting the lead 150m out and pulling away for a 4.29 length victory.

“What a horse… with blinkers on today, Jesus Christ, I’ve never sat on a horse that has given me goosebumps like that before,” an ecstatic Melham said.

“I got pushed a bit wide and got back a bit too far, but we got there in about a few strides, and she just sailed away from them… I don’t think any come close to the feel she just gave me then.”

Autumn Boy ($10) was brave in second but simply no match for the winner’s turn of foot, while the Waller-trained Militarize ($41) showed his class to fill the trifecta.

“Great run by him today,” jockey Kerrin McEvoy said of the runner-up.

“Winner was too sharp.”

While she remains nominated for next weekend’s Group 1 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1600m)—where she is a $21 chance at Ladbrokes—the stable is expected to send the rising star to the paddock to prepare for a massive spring campaign.
