Caulfield trainer Mick Price has given the go ahead for Jabali to take his place in the Group 1 $3.5m Tooheys New Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on April 5.

Price had originally intended to send Jabali for a spell after the Exceed And Excel colt ran a disappointing seventh to Ghibellines in the Group 2 $300,000 The Other Woman Todman Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 22.

But after further discussions with part owners Eliza Park International and an inspection of the colt today, Price will let Jabali join his stable mate Cornrow in the world’s richest two year old race.

“I flew to Sydney today to inspect Jabali. The colt looks great & will take his place in the Golden Slipper with @boss_glen aboard,” Price tweeted.

Glen Boss will take over from Damien Oliver on Jabali who is guaranteed a start in the Golden Slipper and is currently number eight in the order of entry courtesy of his $180,000 runner’s up cheque he collected in the Blue Diamond Stakes.

Oliver will ride Cornrow in the Golden Slipper, taking over from the suspended Jim Cassidy.

Jabali arrived in Sydney with good Melbourne form which saw him run second to Rubick in the Group 3 $150,000 Sportingbet Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) (1100m) at Caulfield on February 8.

Jabali then beat Cornrow home when the pair ran second and third to Earthquake in the Group 1 $1m Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22.

Earthquake is a clear cut $2.20 favourite for the Golden Slipper with Ladbrokes.com.au after maintaining her unbeaten record with a win over Mossfun in the Group 2 $300,000 Parramatta Leagues Club Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 22.

Mossfun secured her spot on the second line of betting at $6.50 in front of Magic Millions 2yo Classic winner Unencumbered at $12 and Ghibellines at $15.

Cornrow is marked at $16 with Jabali a $26 chance.
