Peter Snowden will wait until Saturday morning before giving the go ahead for his smart three year old Inkling to take his place in the Listed $100,000 The Rosebud (1200m) at Randwick.

Snowden is not happy that Inkling was allocated 59kgs topweight and will confer with owner Peter Moran with a decision to be made before the Saturday morning 7.30am scratching deadline.

“I think he is poorly weighted with 59kg so we will look at the race in the coming days, I’ll speak with Peter and we will wait until the morning of the race,” Snowden told Racing Network.

If Snowden chooses not to run this weekend, Inkling is likely to line up in the Group 3 $125,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill next week and will only have to carry 56kgs under the set weights and penalties conditions.

“There is the option of running in the San Domenico Stakes a week later and it is a set weights and penalties race so he will get in on the minimum for a colt,” Snowden said.

Snowden, who trains in partnership with his son Paul, has prepared Inkling for two wins from his three race starts with the stable expecting more improvement as the Duporth colt matures more.

“I don’t think he’s focusing on what he’s got to do,” Snowden told AAP.

Inkling scored on debut with an impressive five and three quarter lengths win over 1000m in a midweek Warwick Farm two year old maiden on June 18 then finished third as an odds on favourite over 1200m at Rosehill in Saturday company on July 5.

Then at his most recent start Inkling returned to the winner’s stall with a one and a quarter lengths win over Sheer Style over 1150m on the Kensington track at Randwick on July 26.

Joshua Parr has been aboard at all three starts and is booked to ride again if the colt gets the nod to go around on Saturday.

Even though The Rosebud has only attracted eight final acceptors, there are plenty of chances with Nayeli, Sarajevo and Bold Circle all resuming after showing promise in their two year old season with all three posting wins.

The Gai Waterhouse trained Nayeli, a winner of two from three starts, has been wound up for her return to the racetrack with two Randwick barrier trial wins and will have Tommy Berry to ride.

Nayeli went to Melbourne after winning on debut over 1000m on the Kensington track at Randwick on January 8 and scored a comfortable win in the Group 3 $135,000 Mal Seccull Chairman’s Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on February 1.

The More Than Ready filly then finished near the tail of the field when fifteenth to Earthquake in the Group 1 $1m Sportingbet Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22 and was then sent for a spell.

Sarajevo from the Godolphin stable under the care of John O’Shea was put away after winning at his only start over 1100m on the Kensington track on April 21 and has won a 840m Randwick barrier trial on August 1 in preparation for his return to the racetrack.

While the David Payne trained Bold Circle will make his return sporting blinkers for the first time after being sent to the paddock after his win over 1100m at Rosehill in October last year.
