Imposing Lass stamped herself as a leading 2016 Queensland Oaks contender with a tough victory in the 2016 Gold Coast Bracelet at the Gold Coast this afternoon.

Jockey Jason Collett elected to take up the running on Imposing Lass in the early stages of the race and she found the line comfortably to get into a nice rhythm from Self Esteem.
Collett went for home on Imposing Lass at the top of the straight and she looked like somewhat of a sitting duck as Self Esteem loomed on the outside and Falkenberg made up good ground on the inside, but Imposing Lass was able to tough it out to the line to record an impressive victory.
Bjorn Baker’s Racing Manager Jack Bruce was pleased with the toughness that Imposing Lass showed in the Gold Coast Bracelet and he confirmed that she would press on to the Group 2 The Roses (2000m) at Doomben on May 21 and the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2400m) at Eagle Farm on June 4.
“It was a good win and we are very happy,” Bruce said.
“She is very push button, Jason got her to settle again today and it was a great ride.
“She kicked at the top of the straight and she was too good.
“She is a tough horse, Bjorn has continually stepped up the bar with him and she has raised it and got there every time.
“She goes to the Roses and on to the Oaks all going well.
“She is a bombproof horse, she does everything right and we are very happy with the win.”
Imposing Lass made her racing debut with a close second at Hawkesbury in November last year and she was sent to the spelling paddock after she took out the Priced Contracting Maiden (1350m) at Wyong on December 17.
The daughter of Makfi scored a dominant four lengths victory in the Ranvet Handicap (1400m) at Warwick Farm on April 6 and she earnt herself a trip to Queensland with a win in the Schweppes Handicap (1500m).
Australian Oaks runner Self Esteem produced another tough on-pace effort to finish a more than credible second, while her stablemate Falkenberg made up good ground on the rail to finish third in a nice trial for the Queensland Oaks.
The Queensland Oaks will be the first Group 1 event held at the new Eagle Farm Track when it is reopened on Saturday June 4.
