Warwick Farm trainer Joe Pride is hoping the heavy conditions at Rosehill on Saturday will be the catalyst that will regenerate the indifferent form that Rain Affair he has been showing recently when he lines up in the Group 1 $400,000 Bloodstock.com.au Galaxy (1100m).

Rain Affair has an outstanding wet track record with five wins from five starts on the slow and two wins and a second from three attempts on a heavy track.

But the front running speedster hasn’t struck a soft track since winning the Group 3 $125,000 McGrath Real Estate Agents Missile Stakes (1200m) on a slow 7 at Randwick on August 10 last year.

Rain Affair has only been placed once from his next four starts and that was a third to Veyron in the Group 2 $175,000 Pro-Ride Warwick Stakes (1400m) at Warwick Farm on a good 3 at his very next start.

At his two runs this time in Rain Affair has shown his customary speed out in front but has faded at both his starts to finish eleventh of eleven in the Group 2 $200,000 SCSI Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 8 and ninth of ten behind Appearance in the Group 1 $500,000 Guinness Canterbury Stakes (1300m) at Randwick two weeks ago.

Pride has been smarting since the rain started early in the week and with the forecast being for more showers, the Rosehill track is going he be in the high heavy range.

“We’ve been waiting for a long time to get Rain Affair back on a wet track and finally he’s going to get one,” Pride told Racing Network.

“You wouldn’t believe the first ten starts of his career were pretty much all on wet tracks and he loved them, and he hasn’t seen one since.”

“It hasn’t stopped raining here all day and that doesn’t bother me at all.”

Pride will also saddle up See The World and Tiger Tees in the Galaxy as well as Terravista in the Group 1 $1m George Ryder Stakes (1500m) and said that wet track wouldn’t bother any of their chances.

“It won’t bother any of mine on Saturday I can tell you that,” Pride said.

Tigers Tees was beaten just over two lengths when ninth of ten to Villa Verde in the Group 2 $400,000 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Randwick on March 15 while See The World is taking a massive step up in grade after finishing second over 1110m in a BenchMark 95 at Warwick Farm on March 8.

And Pride has a high opinion of Terravista who is also stepping up in class after winning at his last two starts at Group 3 level when he beat Albrecht in the Group 3 $150,000 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on February 22 and then beat El Roca in the Group 3 $150,000 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) at Warwick Farm on March 8.

“I’ll be very surprised if he’s not at least competitive with them,” Pride said.

“I think he’s a good horse with a real bit of class.”

With the rain all week in Sydney, Rain Affair has been kept safe in the betting and is marked as a $7.50 chance with Ladbrokes.com.au in the Galaxy just behind Snitzerland at $6.50 and Villa Verde at $7.

See The World is a $14 chance while Tiger Tees is at the healthy odds of $19.

While in the George Ryder Stakes Terravista has been marked an $18 chance behind $2.90 favourite Red Tracer and her stablemate Boban at $6.
