Gold Symphony made his racing debut with a comfortable victory in the Land Engineering Maiden Plate (1200m) at Mornington on July 2 and he hit the line strongly to finish second behind the talented Jalan Jalan in The Flemington Family Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on July 18.
Trainer Peter Moody opted to give Gold Symphony an opportunity at Group level in just his third race start and that decision paid dividends when the son of Reward For Effort took out the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on August 15 and he proved that win was no fluke when he beat Ready For Victory to win the Group 3 McNeil Stakes (1200m) at the same venue on August 29.
Gold Symphony made the trip to Sydney and was set to make his Group 1 debut in the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 12, but he was ruled out of the race due to an elevated temperature and Moody elected to send him to the spelling paddock.
15 horses were included in the 2016 Inglis Dash field that was released this morning and Gold Symphony is set to face a number of talented rivals in the $250,000 event.
Hellbent stamped himself as a horse to follow when he started his spring campaign with a dominant four lengths victory in the Ranvet Handicap (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on September 30 and he finished an unlucky third in the Listed Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on October 17 before he was outclassed in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Victoria Derby Day.
The I Am Invincible colt returned to the races with a second place finish behind Lady Sniper in the Inglis Sprint (1100m) at Royal Randwick on December 12 and he was given a tune-up for the Inglis Dash with a comfortable barrier trial victory at Rosehill Gardens on January 4.
The Big Dance earnt cult hero status when he took out the VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo in March of last year and he returned from a nasty injury to finish fourth at Flemington on New Year’s Day, while Geoff and Beyond Purple will defend unbeaten records in the Inglis Dash.
Rocky Boomboa, Bitburg, Grogans Anvil, Apriano, Tokyo Tycoon, Dream On Monty, Black Envy, Mossin’ Around, Maddie Moo Moo, Beyond Purple and Poppi Rox have also been included in the 2016 Inglis Dash field.
