Gai Waterhouse is oozing with confidence going into tomorrow’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic at the Gold Coast with talented pair Driefontein and No Looking Back.

Driefontein is favourite to win the $2 million race and keep her faultless race record intact.

The two-year-old filly won her first race while on debut at Randwick in November and went on to finish first in the Group 3 BJ McLachlan Stakes at Doomben last start.

While Waterhouse is backing Driefontein to win the lucrative event, she is urging people not to count No Looking Back out of the contest.

“Driefontein’s the horse to beat for all the horses in the race,” Waterhouse said.

“But No Looking Back is a quality filly and she reminds me of Ha Ha.”

No Looking Back has had just one race start at Warwick Farm in the $70,000 WF 100 Club Returns 212 Handicap.

The Redoute’s Choice filly won this race by almost a length despite striking interference near the turn.

No Looking Back has also won both her barrier trials and will go into the Magic Millions 2YO Classic unbeaten.

After the Magic Million Carnival, Waterhouse will look towards the autumn spring racing carnival in Melbourne and Sydney, where she is eagerly anticipating the returns of two of her best stayers.

“I’m very excited with Descarado and Tullamore,” she said.

“We’ve (also) got a very nice mare called Montana flyer who has been very consistent for three or four years.

“She was sent to stud but that didn’t work out.”

More Than Ready mare More Joyous will also be making her comeback in the autumn after mixed success last spring.

“More Joyous, who’s the star of the stable, she’s back on track,” Waterhouse said.

And of her turbulent spring preparation, Waterhouse said “They sometimes have not as good preparation as the time before, they’re not machines.”
