Peter Moody has won plenty of Group 1 races worth hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars throughout his career making a lot of owners very rich.
Of course he’s making a very tidy living himself but this Friday at Moonee Valley he will almost certainly collect his biggest ever pay packet.
The Moonee Valley Race Club offers a major incentive this year saying any trainer who can top the $1 million mark in prize money during the Friday night racing series will drive away in a car worth $134,000.
To put that into perspective, the biggest ever single win Moody has had was when he claimed $60,000 for training the winner of a major Group 1.
Currently Moody has trained horses which have earned a combined total of $694,999 in prize money needing another $305,001 to hit the magic $1 million mark.
He’s such a certainty to clear that threshold because he has the freak Black Caviar running in the feature event of the night and if she wins as expected it will bring him $300,000 closer.
In fact is she wins the race his other runners simply need to cross the finish line and he’ll be the owner of a brand new car.
Moody has four accepters in the nine horse field and there’s a $10,000 prize paid right down to eighth.
When you factor in the $30,000 cash percentage he would also get from the win Moody would be looking at a results of at least $164,000.
The car is the most valuable single prize offered to a trainer anywhere in the country.
A Black Caviar win would also give Luke Nolen the jockeys major prize, a $33,500 television.
