The Gai Waterhouse trained Carriages will have her next run at Doomben in preparation for the $2m Jeep Magic Millions 2yo Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast on January 10.

Waterhouse has selected the Listed $100,000 Calaway Gal Stakes (1010m) for the fillies at Doomben on December 13 for Carriages with Tommy Berry to ride.
The Hinchinbrook filly has returned to Waterhouse’s Randwick stables after leading all of the way to win the $200,000 Magic Millions Clockwise Classic (1000m) at Ballarat on November 24.
Stable foreman Mark Newnham has reported that Carriages has pulled up in fine style and is ready to continue on her countdown to the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.
“She’s just had a pretty easy time of it since she’s been back,” Newnham told Racing Network.
“Her weight is back to her normal racing weight. She’s good.”
Newnham said that Carriages will probably only have the one more run before going to the Gold Coast but added that another trial or a jumpout could be pencilled in if the stable thought that she needed it.
“She’s already qualified and she isn’t a filly that needs a lot of racing,” Newnham said.
“If needed she could always have a trial or jumpout.”
Carriages had been installed the Magic Millions 2yo Classic favourite after her win at Ballarat but was joined at the top of the market order by the Barry Mitchell trained Wicked Intent after he scored an impressive four and a half lengths win at Doomben on the weekend.
Carriages and Wicked Intent now share favouritism at $5.50 in front of the David Hayes and Tom Dabernig trained Miss Idyllic at $6, Of The Brave at $8 and Pepperano and Invincible Dame at $9.
Miss Idyllic is still on target for the Magic Millions 2yo Classic following her narrow second to Bantam at Moonee Valley last Saturday.
Miss Idyllic gained the upper hand over Bantam half way down the straight but the John O’Shea trained colt fought back to gain the judge’s decision in a head bobbing finish.
Grand Slam winning jockey Chris Munce has the job of selecting Wicked Intent or Pepperano as his Magic Millions mount after riding both youngsters to impressive wins recently.
Munce led all the way on his father in law’s Wicked Intent at Doomben last Saturday while he also steered the Liam Birchely trained Pepperano to a debut win over 1110m at Doomben on November 22.
