Talented filly Bring Me The Maid has been backed into Golden Rose odds of $4 and is a clear favourite to take out the Group 1 event at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

Bring Me The Maid stamped herself as a leading contender for the Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) with a comfortable victory on a heavy track in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Royal Randwick on August 23 and her odds shortened after she drew barrier six for the $1 million race yesterday.
The daughter of Sebring was available at odds of $4.40 when the Golden Rose Stakes final field was released yesterday, but she was quickly backed into $4 after major rival Hallowed Crown drew barrier 14.
Forensics is the only filly that has previously won the Golden Rose Stakes, but Peter Moody stable representative Claire Cunningham is confident that Bring Me The Maid can record a maiden Group 1 victory this weekend.
“She doesn’t know that she is a girl and she is tough enough to bring it,” Cunningham said.
“From the two-year-old prep she has matured into a lot stronger filly and I think that there is still more to come.
“Her first-up win was very pleasing and from there she has trained on very well and enjoyed the three weeks between starts.”
Hallowed Crown remains on the second line of betting , despite the wide draw, and is rated a $5.50 chance to defend his unbeaten record in the Golden Rose Stakes this weekend.
The Street Sense colt is one of the few horses in the Golden Rose Stakes field that is a proven performer on rain affected surfaces and he beat a number of his rivals when he stormed home late to win the Group 3 Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens on August 30.
Bring Me The Maid’s stablemate Better Land has remained steady at Golden Rose Stakes odds of $7 and he is chasing his maiden win at Group level, while San Domenico Stakes winner Nostradamus is back into $8, but has also been included in the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) final field.
There has been a sprinkling of support for Gai Waterhouse-trained Almalad and he is into $9.50, but like Nostradamus may not contest the race if the Rosehill Gardens track is rated in the heavy range after he failed to fire in the Run To The Rose.
The best-backed outsider in the Golden Rose Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes Australia has been Team Snowden-trained Shooting To Win the best backed-runner.
There was plenty of support for Shooting To Win after he finished second in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m) at Royal Randwick last Saturday and he is now into $17 to give Peter Snowden his first Group 1 victory since he parted ways with the Godolphin operation.
The likes of Scissor Kick ($12), Kumaon ($13), Sarajevo ($16), Ygritte ($21), Bachman ($41) and Sniper Fire ($67) have all remained steady in Golden Rose betting.
