Sydney rider Tommy Berry keep the winners flowing with a winning treble at Gosford today and hopes the luck follows him to Randwick on Saturday.

Berry will be chasing Group 1 glory on top three year old Manawanui in the Group 1 $500,000 Turnpoint Royal Randwick Guineas (1600m), taking over from the suspended Glyn Schofield.

The Ron Leeman three year old is sharing favouritism with top Melbourne filly Mosheen and looking for his first win this campaign after being first past the post in the Group 2 $200,000 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill on March 3 only to be relegated to second on protest.

Berry started off the day with a win on the Gai Waterhouse trained Landing in the Australian Turf Club NMW Handicap (1200m) after the three year old was slow to begin.

The More Than Ready gelding was forced to race wide in the early stages but raced away to score by two and quarter lengths making it two wins from two starts.

“He’s never brilliant out of the gates. He wasn’t when he won on debut and he wasn’t in his trial either,” Berry said.

“So once he jumped out a bit awkwardly I let everyone else find their position first and then decided to press on after that.

“He’s a very nice horse.”

Stable representative Mark Newnham said that Landing was a horse with plenty of potential and fully expected him to produce a solid performance.

“He’s a very promising horse and I would have been disappointed if we didn’t see that today,” he said.

Berry’s other winners were Urania Crown in the Sydney Carnival On Sale Now Benchmark 70 Handicap  (1100m) for trainer Pat Farrell and Censor in the Toohey’s New Benchmark 75 Handicap (1600m) for Kim Waugh.

Today’s treble came on top of Berry’s Canberra Cup success on the Barbara Joseph trained Fill The Page on Sunday.
