Caulfield Guineas Day is host to a triple-shot of Group 1 racing on Saturday including an exciting edition of the Toorak Handicap 2024 over the Caulfield mile.

Betting on the $1 million showdown this year is led by Ciaron Maher’s in-form gelding Another Wil at a current quote of $3.10 through Ladbrokes.

The consistent galloper and Group 3 winner is after his third straight Caulfield win to make it a hat-trick this prep.

He looks set to achieve just that drawn barrier one with big race specialist Michael Dee in the saddle.

Beaten favourite in the autumn’s Doncaster Mile in the wet in Sydney, he looks very well placed and weighted here to take out the prestigious Toorak Handicap in 2024.

The biggest threat looks to be Tony Gollan’s Queensland-trained Antino currently sitting at $4.60 in the betting at Ladbrokes.

This gelding comes off a string of impressive finishes behind some of the best horses going around.

Two back he was third to Mr Brightside in the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) and he was third again to Pride Of Jenni at The Valley in the Group 2 Feehan at his latest run.

Jockey Blake Shinn rides on a lighter weight here and a return to winning form wouldn’t surprise

Group 1 New Zealand winner Desert Lightning, trained by Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman, carries the 57kg topweight in the Toorak and is also being kept safe at $7 at time of publish.

Craig Williams meanwhile will aptly ride the talented Craig from the outside alley on 53.5kg.

The UK-bred four-year-old comes off a second in the Group 3 Sandown Stakes (1500m) on September 28 behind Desert Lightning with both horses looking to frank that form in the Group 1 on Saturday.

The 2024 Toorak Handicap promises a thrilling finale to Caulfield’s feature race day jumping as Race 10 at 5:45pm (AEDT).
