Premiership winning trainer Chris Waller is keen to get more late season two year old winners on the board when he saddles up two juveniles at the Rosehill meeting on Saturday.

Waller has last start Canterbury winner Harrier Jet and Double Happy first up from a spell ready to contest the $85,000 Inglis $5m Race Series – Entries Close 31 July 2yo Handicap (1200m).
The record breaking trainer has had a surge of two year old winners over the past couple of months and has lead in five metropolitan juvenile winners since Wine Tales won at Warwick Farm on June 18.
Waller’s other two year olds to collect the winner’s cheque in the last few weeks were Delectation, Winx, Good Project, Sniper Fire and Harrier Jet who is stepping from midweek class to face some tougher opposition after winning at Canterbury at his second race start.
The lightly raced Harrier Jet had impressed the Waller stable before his debut fifth at Warwick Farm on February 19 but the wet track attributed to the gelding’s unplaced run.
“We had a bit of an opinion of him and he just struck a wet track at his first start,” Waller said.
Jason Collett will again be aboard Harrier Jet who will come up against some tough opposition from the Gerald Ryan’s smart youngster Inz’N’Out, a winner of two of his last three starts and Lee Curtis’ Press Report who will be aiming for some high level Spring targets.
Testa Rosa colt Double Happy is yet to win a race from five starts but will line up on Saturday with a Rosehill barrier trial win under his belt.
Waller has trained a total of fifteen two year old winners this season and admits that he has changed slightly the way he trains his youngsters.
“We made a few changes three or four months ago with the way we worked them and while I’m not saying that’s helped, it will help us next season,” Waller said on his website.
“We’re getting spoken of as possibly being a two-year-old stable. We’re happy with the way things are going.
Waller is set for another busy day at Rosehill and has accepted with seventeen horses on the eight event card.
While his runners are spread right across the program, he will be extra busy in the middle of the day with five runners in the fourth and four in the sixth.
Fulgur, Black Jag, Multilateral, Rugged Cross and Done Nothin’ Wrong will go around in the $85,000 Bob Ingham BenchMark 85 Handicap (1900m) and Tromso, Coup Ay Tee, Tougher Than Ever and Hidden Kisses will represent the stable in the Listed $100,000 Myer Fashion Winter Stakes (1400m).
