Black Caviar will face just 6 opponents in the Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic, including 3 stablemates
Peter Moody has spoken out against members of the public that believe Black Caviar is not competing against quality fields by reminding everyone he doesn’t choose who accepts for the races.
With Black Caviar’s dominance so great, Moody has been forced to enter three of his own horses into this Saturday’s Group 1 Patinack Farm Classic to make up the numbers.
“We don’t pick the opposition,” Moody said.
“She is there to take on all-comers but clearly rivals are avoiding her.
“We had 20 runners in the sprint on Cup Day and there is a full field in the sprint today (Oaks day) but I have had to put three of her stablemates (Mid Summer Music, Curtana and Panipique) into the race to make a field.”
Moody believes the public should make the most of the opportunity to see Black Caviar race in Melbourne this Saturday.
“Why wouldn’t you want to see a once-in-a-lifetime sprinter in action?” Moody said.
“You don’t get a champion like her too often in your lifetime and we should be appreciating her, not worrying about what short odds she is or what opposition is pitted against her.
“I know we have a busload of 57 people from the Belgrave South Cricket Club heading to Flemington.
“She is super. I just hope the public enjoy watching her on Saturday.”
Black Caviar will be out to win her 16th unbeaten career start in the $1 million Patinack Farm Classic.
