The Sunshine Coast Guineas has attracted twenty-two nominations and the Group 3 for the three year olds is one of the highlights of Saturday’s Metropolitan class meeting at the Sunshine Coast which also featured the Listed $175,000 Caloundra Cup (2400m) and the Listed $175,000 Glasshouse Handicap (1400m).

Bookies at Ladbrokes.com.au have installed Baccarat Baby as the $4 favourite ahead of the first of the Kris Lees trained entries, Asharani, and the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained Junipal at $5.

Less has also entered Lady Of Shalott who has been marked at $11 in early betting.

Baccarat Baby has performed well during the 2019 Queensland Winter Carnival with a win and two placings from five starts but found the class too slick last Saturday at Eagle Farm when fourteenth to Invincibella in the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m).

Baccarat Baby kicked off her Winter Carnival campaign with a first up win in the Listed $125,000 Princess Stakes on April 21 over the same course and distance as the Sunshine Coast Guineas and three starts later ran the race of her life when runner up to Kolding in the Group 2 $350,000 Ascot Green Queensland Guineas (1600m) at Eagle Farm on June 8.

Asharani has had solid form in restricted class and is coming off a last start second in a BenchMark 70 Handicap over 1550m on the Kensington track at Randwick on June 10.
