The Beneateu filly has returned to racing in outstanding condition this season and was unlucky not to carry winning form into the race, having finished second in each of the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m) and Group 3 Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at her two starts prior to the Dane Ripper Stakes.

Jumping from the gates well, jockey Tommy Berry elected to find a position off the early pace for Prompt Response as My True Love, Smart Amelia and Tycoon Tara traded early blows at the fore of the field.

Settling into a good rhythm and experiencing a relatively carefree run in transit, the three-year-old began to work into the race as the field straightened but was blocked by a wall of horses and had to be patient before a gap and run opened in front of her.

Immediately responding when asked for an extra effort, Prompt Response mustered an impressive turn of foot; reaching runaway leader My True Love in the final 100m before hitting the line half a length in the clear.

Following another gutsy run close to the speed, Bonny O’Reilly boxed on to finish third in the Dane Ripper, while perennial overachiever Sold For Song stormed home from the rear of the field to finish an impressive fourth.

Prompt Response has shown plenty of ability throughout her entire racing career and in being crowned the Dane Ripper Stakes winner, has extended her record to three wins and a further seven minors, through only sixteen competitive appearances.

My True Love drifted to odds of $16 at Ladbrokes.com.au prior to jump, but looked the race winner until she was headed in the dying stages of the Dane Ripper Stakes.

Prompt Response appears likely to start favourite in the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara over course and distance in a fortnight.
