Top jockey Nash Rawiller described Pierro’s win in the Group 1 $500,000 Inglis Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick today as ‘Sensational’ as the colt remained unbeaten.

The Gai Waterhouse two year old seems to be getting better and made it five from five after taking out the Group 1 $3.5m AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill last week.
Rawiller had Pierro ($3.20) travelling in fourth spot behind stable mate Raceway who set up a good tempo while odds on favourite All Too Hard ($1.65) was out the back after dawdling out of the barriers and tailing off in the early stages.
Pierro was still under a tight hold as Rawiller nursed the colt up the rise, but as soon as he released the brakes, the Sires was in no doubt and he went on to win by one and three quarter lengths.
Dwayne Dunn on All Too Hard, tried to track Pierro into the race, but by the time he was able to get onto his heels at the top of the rise, Rawiller was able to skip away and hold off the late finish of All Too Hard.
Rawiller was full of praise for the Lonhro colt and said that the win was sensational and exceptional.
“I thought he was exceptional today. When I got to them, Raceway was kicking on pretty strongly at the time and I wasn’t one hundred per cent certain where All Too Hard was and I really didn’t want to worry about him,” Rawiller said.
“I sought of wanted to concentrate on my bloke. It was just amazing the way he came away today. He was sensational. He’s just an exciting horse,” Rawiller said.
Waterhouse hasn’t made up her mind if Pierro will chase the two year old triple crown and line up in the Group 1 $400,000 Champagne Stakes (1600m) At Randwick on April 28, saying that he has nothing more to prove.
“There was nothing too hard about that was it,” Waterhouse said.
“He’s an outstanding colt, I’ve said from day one, what else does he have to do. He wins every race he’s gone in, every major and they still question him.”
Waterhouse is now looking towards the Spring with her unbeaten colt and said on today’s effort races up to two thousand metres will not be beyond him.
