The 2018 Birthday Card Stakes is a Group 3 race bringing together fillies and mares from across New South Wales during the Sydney autumn racing carnival. The arrive at Rosehill Racecourse ahead of a 1200m sprint under quality handicap conditions. The race has previously been known as the Cleanevent Stakes and is worth $150,000.

Being a quality handicap the Birthday Card Stakes is usually a very close event and it can often be tough to pick the winner.
There’s usually a good mix of horses rising through the grades for their first shot at black type and some proven mares that come in at a higher weight.
From this race the best runners are likely to be sent along to the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes on Derby Day at Randwick which is run over the same distance.
The winner of the Birthday Card Stakes isn’t always a genuine top liner but there have been some handy horses to pass through.
Toorak won this race in 1999 while Hot Riff did the same in 2002.
Since then it was won by Gamble Me in 2009 and Zingaling in 2011.
