Moree Racecourse is full of history and easily one of the most important country circuits in all of New South Wales. The Town of Moree is located just south of the Queensland / New South Wales border about 4.5 hours drive to the west of Grafton.
What makes Moree Racecourse so important is that it’s been around for well over 100 years.
In fact the first running of their feature event Moree Cup was way back in 1881.
The circuit may not host a huge number of events annually but when they do you can expect huge support from the local community.
As it stands now the Moree Race Club hosts six race meetings a year.
Three of those are considered feature events as well with the Cotton Cup in February, the Moree Cup in September and the Christmas Twilight Races in December.
The town loves to sell the racecourse experience as part of the overall Moree package with tourism a major part of the community.
The circuit itself can support race starts from the 900m, 1000m, 1200m, 1400m, 1600m and 1700m positions.
An recent initiative from the Moree Race Club was the ‘social members horse’ which gives members of the club a unique opportunity to own a piece of their very own racehorse.
