A lucky couple are celebrating the win of their two horses, Great Heart and Key West, within 24 hours on the weekend.
The full brothers added a nice sum of money to their owner’s pockets, as well as adding to trainer Chris Waller’s chances of taking out the Sydney trainer’s premiership.
Key West won his race on the second day of the Scone Cup Carnival on Saturday, while Great Heart stormed to victory the next day in the Calcoup Knitwear Handicap.
Owner Kerry Pooley said that the burden was on Great Heart on Sunday after his brother produced his sensational three-length win the day before.
“The pressure was on this bloke after Key West won but he came through,” Ms Pooley said.
Trainer Chris Waller said that he looked to the family history in order to assure that Great Heart won his race yesterday.
“Obviously he is well related but like his brothers he’s got a few tricks,” Waller said.
“We found that they appreciate being ridden quietly.
“They can produce a strong finish ridden that way.”
Key West has now won four of his race starts, while Great Heart has won a total of two.
