Nathan Doyle‘s three-year-old, Private Harry, maintained his undefeated record with a victory in the 2025 The Galaxy at Rosehill on Golden Slipper Day, defeating older rivals in the short-distance autumn spring feature.

The Harry Angel colt, now five-for-five, delivered an impressive performance in the $1 million Group 1 sprint to finish up the elite levels on the day.

“I dreamt of this as a kid, all I wanted to do was train horses,” an emotional Doyle told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

“The Group 1, Ash, the staff, Kurrinda, thanks so much. I can’t stop shaking,

“We are still at the stables at 9 o’clock at night just to check in that he’s OK.

“You just don’t want anything to go wrong. You get these opportunities with these horses, and they’re once in a lifetime.

“I’m just glad it’s all panned out. They said we were only scratching the surface with him, and we still are.”

Ashley Morgan, riding Private Harry ($3.30F) with 53kg from barrier six, secured a flawless victory.

“He’s so good, he’s such a free roll and a quick horse,” Morgan said. “When I straightened up, he sees that straight and he just grabs and goes, you know, and the scary thing is he will improve for it.”

Private Harry’s prior victory over last year’s Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot in the $3 million Sunlight 3YO Plate by a runaway margin in race record time showcased his talent.

“It’s his fifth race start. I’ve done all the work with him at home, and even when I got him down here, it looked like a run short to me,” Doyle said.

“He’s still carrying a bit of condition, there’s a bit of improvement left to come.

“Whatever you do today, don’t be disappointed because I think he’ll still run short.

“For him to do that, he’s just bombproof. He just idles up to them, and he can ride a hot speed, and he showed today he can take a sit as well.

“I think that’s where he breaks their hearts. He just can eyeball up in front on a hot speed and just boot off it, and they just can’t chase him.

“They’ve got to run exceptional sectionals. Even Briasa, they went a quick tempo and loomed into it, but he just keeps fighting. He’s just got that will to want to win races. It’s amazing.”

Doyle and Morgan celebrated their first Group 1 wins as Private Harry surged past dual The Kosciuszko champ, resuming eight-year-old Front Page, to win by three-quarters of a length.

40/1 outside carrying the 58kg topweight bravely, Uncommon James, finished a game third.

Private Harry became the first three-year-old to win The Galaxy since Russian Revolution in 2017.

Private Harry is now being considered for the Group 1 $3 million TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

“The latest 2025 TJ Smith Stakes odds online at Ladbrokes have him at $5 as the equal second-elect behind Joliestar ($4),” a betting expert from Races.com.au noted.
