The 2018 Sir John Monash Stakes is a Group 3 race held at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne each year around July. Forming a part of the minor Victoria Winter Carnival, which rolls into the prestigious Spring Carnival, the Sir John Monash Stakes is the feature race of the day. No other black-type racing is held on the same program.
Open to all comers on a weight for age basis, the Sir John Monash Stakes presents a thrilling sprint over 1100m. Paying a total purse of $150,000, it is not the most lucrative race held at Caulfield but it certainly provides great entertainment on the day.
