The punters are happy to follow the yellow brick road in Magic Millions 3YO Guineas betting this Saturday with the aptly named Yellow Brick heading markets on the $2 million feature at the Gold Coast.

Queensland’s Gold Coast Racecourse comes alive with the lucrative $11.75 million Magic Millions Race Day taking centre stage on this weekend.

One of the richest races on the bumper 10-race card is the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas and betting on the event at Ladbrokes is led by the Tony & Maddysen Sears-trained Toowoomba galloper Yellow Brick at $4.

The firming favourite gets a gun run from barrier five with Ben Thompson engaged to ride the ultra-consistent son of The Mission.

The gelding has won five of his six starts to date for just over $600,000 in prize money and was last seen saluting at his home track over 1200m on New Year’s Eve in a brand-new slot race, The King Of The Mountain, against the older gallopers.

The stable’s record in Black-Type grade leaves plenty to be desired with the farther-daughter training duo having saddled-up 23 Listed race starters without a win.

The Sears could be thrown into the spotlight on Saturday however should Yellow Brick salute for the punters in the Restricted Listed Guineas.

“It’s a big difference when a horse comes back to its own age group,” co-trainer Maddysen Sears told Racenet referring to their runner’s last start success over the 2021 Magic Millions 2YO Classic runner-up Alpine Edge.

“Younger horses against old, campaigned horses is very hard to win.

“Yes, it’s a different sort of race but he did break the track record and we do have the (Listed) Weetwood (Handicap) and those sort of races over the 1200m at Toowoomba so I think the win had a lot of merit to it.”

Despite the size of the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas field just two other hopefuls are currently under double-figure odds including the $4.60 second elect Russian Conquest for Peter & Paul Snowden.

The Russian Revolution filly has star hoop James McDonald riding as last year’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic runner-up chases her first win since December 2021.

Following an unplaced seventh at Caulfield in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) on a bottomless Heavy (10) track last October she looked improved fresh last time out on December 28 when a quarter-length second in the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m).

Rounding out the hopes under $10 for the win at $9 is the Tony Gollan-trained Spirit Of Boom colt Spiritualised coming off a 1300m win at the track last weekend by nearly two lengths.

Gollan also saddles-up fellow last start Gold Coast winner over 1300m with his progressive Deep Field filly Latakia ($15) on the quick back-up.

The $2M Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas 2023 is set to run as Race 8 at the Gold Coast at 4:10pm (AEST) on Saturday’s 10-race card.
