The Wyong Race Club (WRC) is currently asking for expressions of interest from other clubs who are interested in amalgamation.
A registered clubs licence has been granted to the WRC by the office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing in a first step towards the desired merged.
The club voted unanimously on a merger earlier in the week, with course trainers being informed of the decision early this morning.
WRC’s chairman, Rod Wicks, is hoping to hold an information meeting with members and other interested parties in the merger.
“The move is simply to establish the interest, if any, that is out there,” Mr Wicks said.
“Any amalgamation decision must first be approved by the members and then the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing.
“There is ample opportunity and legislative provision for submissions to be received in relation to such an amalgamation.”
An amalgamation of Wyong Racecourse, which is located on the New South Wales Central Coast, would allow for the club to expand and fund further projects.
