Champion mare Winx headlines the nominations for the Group 1 $500,000 Colgate Optic White (George Main) Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on Saturday.

Winx is one of twenty-two horses nominated and the Chris Waller trained mare will be lining up for her third straight win in the for the weight for age Randwick Mile as well as chasing her twenty-seventh consecutive win which includes the last three runnings of the Group 1 $3m Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m) at The Valley .

Winx is one of fifteen Waller trained horses among the nominations for the Gerorge Main Stakes and is joined by stablemates Comin’ Through, D’Argento, Egg Tart, I Am Coldplay, Libran, Mister Sea Wolf, One Foot In Heaven, Religify, Satono Rasen, Single Gaze, Tom Melbourne, Unforgotten, Who Shot Thebarman and Youngstar.

Winx kicked off her Cox Plate defence with a stunning first up victory in the Group 1 $500,000 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 18 when she edged past Black Caviar’s record of twenty-five straight wins.

The super star had a 1000m unofficial barrier trial win at Randwick on September 1 in preparation for the George Main Stakes and Waller has been pleased with the mare’s progress since.

“She is just constantly in the zone and everything is going to plan,’’ Waller told The Daily Telegraph.

“The jump-out last week was perfect. It was just enough to get on top of her with the four weeks between runs.

“She will love stepping up to the mile (1600m) on Saturday.’’

Multiple Group 1 winner Le Romain and the David Payne trained Ace High are two other high profile gallopers among the George Main Stakes nominations.

The Kris Lee trained Le Romain scored a first up win in the Group 3 $150,000 Nexon Show County Quality (1200m) at Randwick on August 18 before finishing seventh to Comin’ Through in the Group 2 $200,000 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on September 1.

Ace High ran a much improved race second up when runner up to Unforgotten in the Group 2 $250,000 Bisley Workwear Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick on September 1.

Winx sits at her usual spot at the top of the market order at $1.15 for the George Main Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of Le Romain and Unforgotten who share the second line of betting at $12.
