The 2017 Warwick Stakes Day results will be updated all afternoon at horseracing.com.au and we are now very close to the return of star mare Winx.

Winx’s return to racing in the Warwick Stakes will obviously be the main attraction at Royal Randwick this afternoon, but there are a number of other talented horses set to start their 2017 Spring Racing Carnival campaigns.

The action gets underway when a small field of talented fillies contest the Silver Shadow Stakes and there are black-type races spread right across what is a truly fascinating day of racing.

2017 Warwick Stakes Day Results

Race 1 (12:00pm) – $200,000 Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes Results

Formality led from start to finish to record a brave victory in the 2017 Silver Shadow Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Alizee cruised up to Formality at the top of the straight and looked as though she would cruise to victory, but she was never able to beat Formality and she fought back in the shadows of the post.

Champagne Cuddles took a while to wind up, but she finished strongly in the final 100 metres to finish a close third.

Race 2 (12:40pm) – $100,000 Randwick Mayor’s Cup Results

Auvray upstaged the well-backed favourite Sayed to win the Randwick Mayor’s Cup this afternoon.

Sayed bolted in to win over this track and distance last start and looked set to do the same again, but Auvray made his run with the favourite and proved too strong in the final stages.

Auvray’s victory was his first in Australia and his first win since he won the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay (3000m) at Longchamps in France in October of 2014.

Race 3 (1:15pm) – $60,000 Highway Plate Results

My Tagoson outclassed his rivals to score an impressive win in the Highway Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Jockey Hugh Bowman gave My Tagoson a lovely run in transit the talented galloper showed an impressive turn-of-foot to put away his rivals at the top of the straight.

Last Try Wins hit the line strongly in the final stages of the race, but he couldn’t run down My Tagoson and had to settle for another second place finish.

Race 4 (1:50pm) – $100,000 Broccolini Handicap Results

Comin’ Through led from start to finish to return to winning form in the Broccolini Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Michael Walker had the lead handed up to him on Comin’ Through and he was able to control the race at a very easy tempo.

Life Less Ordinary and Mogador both came at Comin’ Through late, but he was able to hold-off his rivals to claim his first win since he took out the Carbine Club Stakes on Victoria Derby Day.

Race 5 (2:25pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Up And Coming Stakes Results

Dracarys defied a big drift to record an upset win in the 2017 Up And Coming Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Trapeze Artist and Sanctioned both pushed forward in the early stages and that ensure that the Up And Coming Stakes was run at a genuine tempo, while Dracarys settled in the second half of the field.

Dracarys and Gold Standard cleared out in the final stages and it was Dracarys that proved too strong late, with the win coming in a track record time.

Race 6 (3:00pm) – $250,000 Group 2 Warwick Stakes Results

It wasn’t a pretty watch for punters, but outstanding mare Winx showed her true class with a truly memorable win in the 2017 Warwick Stakes at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Winx missed the start by four lengths and jockey Hugh Bowman was forced to settle the daughter of Street Cry at the tail of the field.

Foxplay kicked away at the 200 metre mark and one of the biggest upsets in racing history look set to take place, but Winx absolutely exploded in the last 100 metres to extend her winning streak.

Race 7 (3:40pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Toy Show Quality Results

Sweet Redemption led from start to finish to record a narrow win in the 2017 Toy Show Quality at Royal Randwick this afternoon

Adam Hyeronimus went straight to the front on Sweet Redemption and she kicked clear from the rest of the field at the top of the straight.

Sweet Redemption got tired late and both Euro Angel and Imposing Lass stormed at her late, but Hyeronimus timed the ride to perfection and Sweet Redemption was able to hold on for a brave victory.

Race 8 (4:20pm) – $150,000 Group 3 Show County Quality Results

Deploy fought-off The Virginian and Burning Passion to win the 2017 Show County Quality at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

There was plenty of money for Deploy in the lead-up to the Show County Quality and the money proved to be spot-on as he proved too tough for a gallant The Virginian.

Omei Sword started the race as favourite, but she missed the start and was never able to get into the race.

• 3rd – Burning Passion

Race 9 (5:00pm) – $100,000 Primo Handicap Results

Super Too was absolutely dominant in the Primo Handicap at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

Blake Shinn took Super Too straight to the front and the speedy mare simply ran her rivals off their feet.

Super Too never looked like getting caught and she was the third horse to break the track record in the process.
