Walter’s 3YO Champions Ready To Trial

Guy Walters gun three year old pairing of Streama and Doctor Doom will be in action this Friday in trials at Randwick as the two prepare for a huge autumn period.

For Streama the ultimate task looks like being bringing down flying filly Atlantic Jewel and for Doctor Doom it’ll be about getting up in trip towards the Australian Derby.

They are both expected to have just the one trial before Streama runs in the Light Fingers Stakes and Doctor Doom runs in the Royal Sovereign, both on February 18 at Warwick Farm.

In the past they’ve managed to fire at the same time with their most notable wins coming within hours or each other, Streama in the Flight Stakes and Doctor Doom  in the Spring Champion.

“The plan is for both of them to race on February 18,” Walter said.

“Streama runs in the Light Fingers and Doctor Doom the Royal Sovereign.

“She will be aimed at the Coolmore and possibly the Doncaster. And if Atlantic Jewel is there, what a race it would be.”

Atlantic Jewel was considered to be untouchable against her own sex and age but after Streama’s six length domination in the Flight Stakes a few started to change their tune.

Atlantic Jewel went on to win the Thousands Guineas virtually unopposed while Streama was spelling and both missed out on the Crown Oaks.

Their trials on Friday will be over 850m on the Kensington surface on a day when he big guns are out in force.

Names such as Foxwedge, Descarado, Zavite, Shootoff, Rangirangdoo and Hay List will all be kicking off their campaigns in front of many eager observers.
