Tudor will be making his debut at weight-for-age level in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m), but punters are confident that he will prove up to the task and he was backed from $6 into $4.80 before he drifted back out to $5.50 following a surge of support for Dissident.

The Strategic colt will be facing the toughest test of his racing career to date when he contests the Australia Stakes, but trainer Doug Harrison is happy with the form of his star galloper and is confident that the three-year-old can finish in the placings.

“I am really looking forward to it,” Harrison told RSN.

“It is a weight-for-age race, so it is a step-up for him.

“You have one Group 1 performer and he is a good horse and there is probably a couple of others in it, but he looks to be a good chance to finish in the placings.

“He does like the Valley and I am just hoping for a little bit of luck.

“We have been knocking on the door of everything at the moment, but it just won’t open up.

“It would be nice to pick up one and it would be a nice one to pick up.”

Tudor was sent to the spelling paddock after he finished ninth behind Stratum Star in the Listed Crown Lager Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on October 18 at the end of a lengthy campaign and he returned to racing with a tough second behind Fast Cash in the Gold Carat at Moonee Valley on January 3.

Harrison said that Tudor had worked strongly coming out of his first-up run in the Gold Carat and he is confident that the talented colt has done everything right heading into the Australia Stakes this weekend.

“He had a nice gallop on Tuesday at Cranbourne and he worked really well,” Harrison said.

“He is a lovely horse to do anything with and he work has been good and he looks really well.”

Triple Group 1 winner Dissident remains a clear favourite in the 2015 Australia Stakes betting market with Ladbrokes from Tudor ($5.50), Regal Roller Stakes winner Hard Stride ($6), Robbie Griffiths-trained It Is Written ($8) and Group 1 winner Smokin’ Joey ($17).
