The Last Kiss will have her second race start in the 2015 Calaway Gal Stakes and trainer Steve O’Dea revealed that the talented filly is thriving ahead of the Listed event at Doomben tomorrow.

The Last Kiss missed the start when she made her racing debut in the AM Giles & Co Handicap (1110m) at Doomben on November 21, but she showed an impressive turn-of-foot in the final stages of the race to record a narrow win over Our Cinderella and Heart Skipt A Beat.
O’Dea believes that The Last Kiss took plenty of benefit from her debut race win and he told Radio TAB that she has trained on strongly ahead of the 2015 Calaway Gal Stakes this weekend.
“I have been really happy with her at home,” O’Dea said.
“You never really know with two-year-olds the first time, but she had shown really good ability on the track and in a jump out.
“We were pretty keen on her going into the races for the first time.
“She was a bit slow out, got back in the field and nothing really went right for her, but she still hit the line well.
“It bares for her in the future that she is a versatile future and I am really looking forward to taking her to the races again on Saturday.
“She is in a really good frame of mind and she seems really happy.
“She will be back off the speed a bit and probably worse than midfield, but as we saw the other day, if she can get out to a little bit of room she can hit the line and I wouldn’t be too worried about giving them a start.”
Zelady’s Night Out is set to start the 2015 Calaway Gal Stakes as favourite and she impressed onlookers with her impressive win on debut at Doomben on November 14.
O’Dea admits that there are a number of quality juveniles in Queensland this season, but he is confident that the daughter of Sebring can measure up in both the Calaway Gal Stakes and the 2016 Magic Millions Classic.
“We have some really smart two-year-olds up here in Queensland at the moment,” O’Dea said.
“My filly and Tony’s filly and Kelso’s colt as well and I’m sure that there are a few others around that have shown some ability as well.
“It seems to be a very strong season up here for two-year-olds and hopefully we can go to Millions and mix it with the best of them.”
The Last Kiss is currently available at 2015 Calaway Gal Stakes odds of $4.20 with Ladbrokes and she is on the second line of betting behind Zelady’s Night Out ($2.70).
