Bargain filly The Big Dance will be on trial for the 2015 Danehill Stakes when she returns to the races at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The Big Dance was purchased for just $750 at the 2014 Inglis VOBIS Gold yearling sales and that proved to be a shrewd investment for connections when she made her racing debut with a most impressive win in the VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at Bendigo on March 21 and earnt $151,000 in prizemoney.
The two-year-old was sent straight to the spelling paddock following her win in the VOBIS Gold Rush, but she has been included in the nominations for the three-year-old fillies race and trainer Daniel Curran told AAP that her performance on Saturday will help him decide whether she presses on to the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on September 12 before a potential step-up to a mile for the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.
“I think this race is going to tell us a fair bit,” Curran said.
“We’re hoping that she’s up to running in a race like the Danehill Stakes and depending on how she would go in the Danehill would tell us what to do next.
“She’ll be entered in the Thousand Guineas and a few other races, but she’s a pretty fast horse.
“I don’t know whether she’s going to be too brilliant for that distance.
“She’s got to prove she’s up to these classy fillies too.
“She looked pretty good (on debut) but two-year-old form has got to translate to three-year-old form for all of them.
“It looks like being a pretty fast race, so it’s going to be pretty interesting how she stacks up.”
The Curran stable recorded nine victories during the 2014/2015 racing season and he claimed his maiden black-type victory when Written Dash upset the likes of Royal Snitzel, Matilija, Sistonic, London Lolly and Eloping to take out the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on February 27 at the massive odds of $100.
The Super VOBIS Three-Years-Old Fillies Handicap (1000m) is packed full of talent and The Big Dance is set to take on the likes of Chairman’s Stakes winner Thurlow, tough filly Haybah, debut winner Petits Filous, Godolphin filly Maternal, Robbie Griffiths-trained Deja Blue, Northern Meteor filly Total Discretion and last start winner Classy Chanel.
