The team from Macedon Lodge will line up Green Moon, Sea Moon, Fawkner, Mourayan, Seville and Masked Marvell in the $6 million event.

According to Nick Williams, any one of the horses could come away with the win in the Melbourne Cup.

“I find it pretty hard to split them all to be perfectly frank,” Williams said.

“They’re all going to the race in good order.

“Whoever’s the best will the best one of them home and hopefully one of them will be the first horse home.”

In an extraordinary feat, five of their six runners have drawn inside barrier 11 for the 3,200 metres staying test. Even more impressive four of the six runners drew barriers 7 -10 with Sea Moon in barrier 7, Fawkner in barrier 8, Seville in barrier 9 and defending champion Green Moon in barrier 10. Masked Marvel drew barrier 2.

Mourayan is the only horse to draw wide and will jump from gate 19 in the Melbourne Cup.

The seven-year-old has won five of his 41 race starts to date and has earned more than $1.6 million in prize money.

After a seventh placing in today’s Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington, he will be looking to turn his form around in time to perform at his peak in the Cup.

Mourayan also placed a gallant seventh in last year’s Melbourne Cup and will be out to improve even further on that result this time around.

After a slow start to his spring preparation, Sea Moon appears to be back to his best in time for Tuesday’s race.

Sea Moon won the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes last start and will be looking to recreate that performance in the Melbourne Cup.

“I’m sure we’ve got him right,” Williams said.

“The amount this horse has improved over the last four weeks is extraordinary.”

Sea Moon has won six of his 14 race starts and has earned more than $1.18 million during his career.
