Three Sydney gallopers have booked places for Saturday week’s Magic Millions feature races after strong trial performances at Rosehill today.

Sufusa and Fundido won their trials while four-year-old Top Drop finished a pleasing second.

Fundido, a $17 chance in the $2m Magic Millions Classic (1200m), wore winkers when winning trial eight over 900m.

The Chris Waller-trained galloper won by a leisurely 2-1/2 lengths in 53.57 sec, a similar time to most of the 900m trials held this morning.

His campaign is back on track after a disappointing fifth behind Epaulette in the Australian Turf Club Hcp (1200m) at Rosehill on Boxing Day when an odds-on favourite.

However the questions remain  whether he found the 1200m too far or the 58kg carried too much?

Waller confirmed that Fundido would wear winkers in the Classic.

“He trialled well today,” jockey Glyn Schofield said.

“He had something putting pressure on him the whole way and he wanted to get mobile.

“He’s on track for next week.

“Today we just wanted to make sure he hadn’t lost anything.”

Wyong Magic Millions Stakes winner Safusa is $4.80 Tabsportsbet favourite for the $1m Magic Millions Guineas (1400m).

The three-year-old is aiming to give trainer David Pfieffer a second Magic Millions Guineas (then Trophy) win in three years.

Pfieffer trained Graceful Anna to win the race in 2010 .

Jockey Jay Ford believes Safusa is right on target after winning trial 9 over 900m from Road To Summer comfortably in 53.34 sec.

“He does so well between races and Dave wanted to give him the trial today to keep him ticking over and blow a few cobwebs out before next week,” Ford said.

“He feels great, he’s bouncing out of his skin and trialed accordingly.

“Everything is looking good for the Gold Coast.”

Top Drop qualified for a trip north when second to Diamond Jim in trail two over 1030m in 1.05.09 when beaten ½ length.

The Gerald Ryan-trained horse will be floated to Queensland on Monday along with the yard’s leading Classic hope Amorino.

Top Drop was ordered to trial after Monday’s Carrington Stakes and needed to behave to avoid being gelded and continue on the road towards the $400,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m).

“He’s passed and he’ll go up to the Gold Coast,” Ryan said.

“We put a barrier blanket on him this morning and he was heaps better.

“He trialed good, in slow time, but (jockey) Kerrin (McEvoy) said he felt terrific.

“Nash Rawiller will ride him at the Gold Coast.”

Dual Group 1 winner Rangirangdoo was given an easy time at the trials when sixth to Magic Weekend over 900m.

He is on the comeback trail after going amiss after winning the George Ryder Stakes in April.

The Chris Waller trained gelding is likely to resume racing in the $200,000 Group 2 Expressway Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on February 11.
