Golden Slipper placegetter Sweet Idea is one of just eleven fillies included in the nominations for the Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.
The Snitzel three-year-old has not been seen at the races since her third place finish behind stablemate Overreach at the end of her lengthy juvenile campaign in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens in April.
Sweet Idea began her racing career last October with a win in the TAB Sprint Plate (1000m) at Randwick and finished second behind Criterion in the Lidoran Group Plate (1100m) at Randwick in November.
She was taken to Queensland to embark on a Magic Millions campaign and finished second in both the Group 3 B.J. McLachlan Stakes (1200m) at Doomben and the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) at the Gold Coast – less than half a length behind winner Real Surreal.
After a brief freshen-up Sweet Idea returned to the races with a narrow victory in the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m) at Randwick in March before producing another impressive performance in the Golden Slipper.
Another classy filly that is set to resume in the Silver Shadow Stakes is Bjorn Baker-trained Twilight Royale who recorded three wins from five starts as a two-year-old.
The daughter of Testa Rossa won at Warwick Farm on debut and finished her autumn campaign with back-to-back wins in the Inglis Premier (1200m) at Mornington and the Group 2 Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington.
The three-year-old has impressed since returning to work for this preparation, winning a barrier trial over 900 metres at Rosehill on August 5 before being given a quiet trial behind Diamond Oasis and Champollion over 800 metres at Warwick Farm last Friday.
The Silver Shadow will be an early lead-up race to the Thousand Guineas (1600m) with both Sweet Idea and Twilight Royale, as well as other Silver Shadow nominees Greytfilly, Montsegur and Twice Shy, nominated for the Group 1 race that will be held at Caulfield on October 16.
