Lady Shenandoah continued her impressive form, securing another victory over Golden Slipper winner Lady Of Camelot in the 2025 Surround Stakes at Randwick on Saturday.

The Chris Waller-trained filly replicated the Light Fingers Stakes quinella, solidifying her status as a top-class performer.

“I could see that she accelerated but wasn’t quite clear, and then I realised it was Lady Of Camelot – she’s a Golden Slipper winner – so I knew that the Waterhouse/Bott horse was going to be hard to go past. She was – and lifted,” Waller told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

“It was good to see Lady Shenandoah fight and be dominant. It just shows you how hard it is to win races, any race let alone a Group 1 race. It was a good fight over the last 100-metres. I don’t know how the punters were feeling.”

The Snitzel filly’s victory, a narrow but decisive 0.29 length win in the Group 1 $750,000 Surround Stakes, marked her third win from as many starts at Sydne’s Royal Randwick track.

James McDonald celebrated his second Surround Stakes success, guiding the odds-on favourite to victory.

For Waller, it was also his second Surround Stakes win, adding to his impressive record in Group 1 races.

Lady Shenandoah ($1.30F) now boasts two Group 1 wins, having also triumphed in the Flight Stakes last spring.

Her recent victory in the Light Fingers Stakes served as the perfect lead-up to this race, where she once again defeated Lady Of Camelot.

The race unfolded with Lilac leading the field up the rise, but Lady Shenandoah and Lady Of Camelot soon emerged as the main contenders off on-speed runs.

Lady Shenandoah, positioned third, cruised up alongside Lady Of Camelot, who had enjoyed a comfortable run in second.

The two fillies engaged in a thrilling battle to the finish, with Lady Shenandoah ultimately prevailing in the final strides.

Lazzura, another Waller-trained filly, finished third, completing the trifecta at bigger odds.

Looking ahead, a potential start in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill on March 15 is on the cards for Lady Shenandoah.

She has been installed as the $3 favourite in the all-in markets at Ladbrokes.
