Talented mare Super Cash could have earned herself a surprise start in the Group 1 $1.5m Stradbroke Handicap (1350m) at Doomben on June 9 after a slick second up run in the Group 1 $1m Darley Goodwood (1200m).
Super Cash was having her second run back from a spell when she pleased trainer Andrew Noblet with a handy fourth to Santa Ana Lane in Adelaide’s prestige sprint at Morphettville on May 19.
Noblet had always planned to travel the mare to Queensland for the Winter Racing Carnival but was going to target the Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Club Tiara (1350m) at Doomben on June 23.
Noblet thought the Group 1 for the fillies and mares looked more inviting but is now contemplating taking on all comers in the Stradbroke Handicap.
“We were really impressed with her last run and how she’s come through, it’s put the Stradbroke back on the agenda a bit,” Noblet told racing.com.
“I’ll speak to the owners with the plan to second accept and all going well she’ll travel up to Brisbane next week but we’ll just wait and see.”
“She’s in super condition and has been a bit unlucky this prep, but if she can stay in this kind of order and get a bit of luck I’m confident she has the ability to strike at the top level.”
Super Cash is a six times winner from twenty-two starts, a three times Group 2 winner but is yet to be placed at Group 1 level from seven attempts.
The Written Tycoon mare’s best career wins have all be at Caulfield in the Group 2 $200,000 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) twice during the 2017 and 2018 Melbourne Autumn Carnivals and in the Group 2 $400,000 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) during the 2017 Spring Carnival.
Super Cash has been allocated 51.5kg for the Stradbroke Handicap and is currently in nineteenth position in the order of entry but will jump way up the list when first acceptances are taken on Wednesday morning with several horses ahead of her already being declared non-runners.
Super Cash is marked at the good double figure odds of $41 for the Stradbroke Handicap with Ladbrokes.com.au in the betting market that has the three year old filly Champagne Cuddles as the $4.50 favourite just ahead of the Kingsford-Smith Cup winner and last year’s Stradbroke Handicap victor Impending at $5.
