Sunshine Coast rated heavy 10 for Caloundra Cup

Saturday’s Caloundra Cup meeting at the Sunshine Coast has been given the go ahead as scheduled  on the course proper after an early morning inspection rated the track a heavy 10.

The Caloundra track has received 83mm in the past 24 hours totalling 124mm for the week with no foreseeable track upgrade and the persistent wet weather has forced Sunday’s meeting to be transferred to the cushion track.

The latest rain period has already claimed several meetings with the abandonment of last Wednesday’s Eagle Farm program as well as today’s Gold Coast meeting.

Also the race meeting set down for Kilcoy this Saturday for the Beaudesert Hibernian Race Club has been abandoned after the area received approximately 100mm of rain over the past few days which has seen the track rated unsafe for racing.

The Ipswich track has been rated a heavy 10 for Friday’s meeting and will undergo a further track inspection in the morning.

The Listed $200,000 Signwave Caloundra Cup (2400m) has attracted eleven final acceptances with Ipswich Cup winner Shenzhou Steeds heading the weights while Eye Liner Stakes winner Belltone has drawn barrier twelve in a field of fifteen in the Listed $175,000 Reed Property Group Glasshouse Handicap (1400m).

And the other feature race on the card the Listed $100,000 XXXX Sunshine Coast Guineas (1600m) for the three year olds has a full field of eighteen plus three emergencies.
