Stay With Me On The Drift In Myer Classic Betting

Stay With Me has been on the drift in 2015 Myer Classic betting markets, but co-trainer David Hayes is still extremely confident about her chances in the Group 1 event at Flemington on Saturday.

Stay With Me opened at a quote of $4 when the Myer Classic field was released on Wednesday morning, but there has been very little support for the talented three-year-old and she is out to $4.40.

The daughter of Street Cry started her 2015 Spring Racing Carnival campaign with a comfortable win at Pakenham and she beat a star-studded field in the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley on September 5 to stamp herself as a leading Thousand Guineas contender.

Stay With Me was never able to get into the race when she finished sixth behind Miss Gunpowder in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield on September 26, but she was far too good for her rivals in the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on October 10.

Hayes believes that Stay With Me has improved even further following her dominant Thousand Guineas victory and with luck in running he is confident that the well-bred filly will prove far too good for her rivals in the 2015 Myer Classic.

“She has 49 kilos and she has probably improved from the Guineas win, which was spectacular,” Hayes said.

“She is one of the best fillies I have had for a while.

“She will be given clear galloping room in the straight and I am pretty confident, providing that she doesn’t get clattered out too wide, that she will be winning.”

While Stay With Me is currently on top of the 2015 Myer Classic betting market with Ladbrokes, the best-backed runner has been talented mare Royal Descent, who has been backed from $7 into $5.50.

Royal Descent has not recorded a Group 1 victory since she took out the 2013 edition of the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m), but she has been one of the most consistent milers in the country and she has been placed on multiple occasions in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m), Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) and Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m).

The only other horse that is available at single figure Myer Classic odds is Ciaron Maher-trained Azkadellia, who has been backed from $9.50 into $8.50.

Azkadellia is set to make her Group 1 debut in the Myer Classic and she will have her second race start in seven days following her fast-finishing second in the Tesio Stakes last weekend.

There has been a sprinkling of support in the 2015 Myer Classic betting market with Ladbrokes for Miss Rose De Lago ($14 into $10), Vergara ($101 into $71) and Slightly Sweet ($17 into $14), while May’s Dream ($9.50 out to $13), Solicit ($18 out to $21), Amicus ($21 out to $31) and Fenway ($12 out to $18) have all been on the drift.

You can score the best Myer Classic odds with Ladbrokes, who are offering Best Tote or Starting Price +20% on every single race at Flemington on Saturday.
